ABOUT SITUATION IN OLD RA[KA IN 1850–1878
AND THE GREAT POWERS ATTITUDE
At the time of rebellious events in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1850–1878)
Serbian rebels made tenacious efforts to spread wave of rebel to all territories un-
der the Turkish command, and also to territory of Novi Pazar’s Sanjak. The leaders
of these rebels had worked mostly on rebellious moods spreading between the
Christian population, and all time trough rebellious events they expected support
and help from the Muslim population. To those rebellious expectations population
of Novi Pazar was mostly exposed, like population in the other parts at Ra{ka’s ter-
ritory: Prijepolje, Sjenica and Pljevlja. All those movements and aspirations were
carefully followed by the European states, leaded by Austro Hungary and Russia
which tried to use rising of rebellions mood for strengthening of their positions in
that part of the Balkans.
