RELATION OF MILAN STOJADINOVIĆ TOWARDS
BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA AND THE MUSLIMS
With his politic of Yugoslavian idea of the Muslims Milan Stojadinović
(1935–1939) wanted to preserve bases of state regulation of the Kingdom Yugo-
slavia against every separatism and federalism. Toward JRZ he made settlement
with JMO and Mehmed Spaho. He wanted to strengthen Yugoslav conscience of
the Muslim, especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He considered that with that
settlement considerable week Croatian separatism and so called Croatian questi-
on. In that he had relatively fairly success, even in 1939 he lost his position. In that
he had resistance of one part of Serbian opposition. Religious question he put in
the second plan pointing at the Yugoslavian idea of the Muslim and their closeness
in the past and in the present with the orthodox Serbs. M. Stojadinović in spite
of alliance with the Muslim never pawned for any kind of special political status
of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for him Bosnia and Herzegovina is geographic and
ethnic concept of two nations and three religions.
