PATRON SAINT DAY AS A FAMILY AND CHURCH
CELEBRATION OF THE SERBS IN NOVI PAZAR

Abstract: The author deals with the phenomenon of Patron Saint Day as a
segmental cultural and religious identity of Serbs in the area of Novi Pazar. The
paper has for its aim to emphasize onto the types of Patron Saint Days being
celebrated in this area, the specifics of their celebration, and also to emphasize
onto the time and spacious arrangement of so-called Monastery Patron Saint
Days and covenants in this area. Pursuant to the introductory part of the paper,
the author emphasizes onto the customs of celebrating family Patron Saint Day.
In the second part of the paper, the author emphasizes onto the significance and
the specifics of the so-called Monastery Patron Saint Days and covenants, giving
the list of all these Patron Saint Days, being celebrated in the area of Novi Pazar.
