THE INFLUENCE OF CULTURE DIMENSION AND REGIONAL
IDENTITY ONTO UPBRINGING PARENTS’ STYLE
Abstract: In this paper, we have wanted to emphasize onto the influence of
culture dimension and regional identity onto upbringing parents’ style. Since the
specifics of the Sanjak region that has its peculiarities like all the other regions in
the area of Serbia, we shall analyze the region that for its culture, tradition, religious
and national structure significantly influences onto the upbringing parents’ style.
Numerous studies emphasize that culture is one of the most significant characteristics
of a man and society as a whole, and a lot of behaviors and phenomena within a
society are attributed to differences in the culture of the society. These differences
are especially expressible when they are reconsidered through a prism of a family
influence onto a social environment. The mutual influence and unbreakable
connection between the culture and family gives a research space of connectivity
among the dimensions of culture, regional identity and upbringing styles.
We know there are differences among cultures, but how to understand these
differences? If a cultures changes, what is it and how strong is a relation between
a culture and behavior of an individual? What is a life in areas with more different
cultural models? The answers to these and other numerous questions can be very
significant, especially when it is a word on multinational areas. Our upbringing,
religion, tradition and customs are a part of the culture and they play a significant
role in forming of our personality. Our culture helps us in forming of our identity,
and cultural values that we share in the community or a social group offer to us a
sense of belonging to the society we live in.
For better understanding of ourselves and our view onto the world, it is
necessary to reconsider what are our values, norms, to understand that from the
culture, our relation towards ourselves and towards other people derives a huge
part of it.
