                   NOVI PAZAR ON THE MAP OF SARAJEVO MERCHANTS
                                              1850 1867

                     With special review on correspondence of Ibrahimaga Handžija,
                          Novipazar’ trader, and Gavra Jelić Sarajevo s trader


                      In the period between 1850 and 1867 the Osman government brought se-
               veral important judicial acts for trading regulations inside the Empire. How and in
               which way newly proclaimed laws and specially question of customs influenced
               on trading development in Bosnian province (elajet, vilajet) and with that on the
               trading of Sarajevo and Novi Pazar was analyzed in this work. Did this laws were
               applied and respected on the most important internal custom crossing in Bosnian
               province, in Novi Pazar or not is especially question on which this work indicates.
               Besides, this work considers what kind of business relation was between merc-
               hants of these two towns and like vise based on what constructed. Also is putting
               a question how much is important Novi Pazar for trading business related to other
               trading centers inside Rumelia, for Sarajevo’s wholesalers. This article gives one
               new picture about trading presented from the perspective of the traders on which
               points their business private correspondence. Special attention is directed on the
               analyses of six preserved trading letters between Ibrahimaga Handžija, merchant
               from Novi Pazar, and Gavra Jelić, Sarajevo s trader, trough who s not numerous
               correspondence trying to discover world in which they and in what way they made
               their business. How much business relation comprehended private is one of the
               questions on which beside all, analysis of those letters pointing at.
