\UR\E BO[KOVI] AS THE EXPLORER OF CHURCH
MONUMENTS OF RA[KA’S SCHOOL

During the six decades of a productive scientific and conservation work, ar-
chitect \ur|e Bo{kovi} (1904–1990), with specially attention he devoted himself
to church monuments of Nemanja’s period. One hundred years from birth of this
founder of our protection of cultural monuments and architectural historiography
is completed in 2004. And considering on this occasion we remind to his capital
works about monuments of the mentioned period.
\ur|e Bo{kovi} wrote about numerous monuments of Ra{ka’s school of
medieval architecture, from smaller and unknown to more important and more re-
searched @i~a, Banjska, De~ani. At the beginning of his researches in the first place
he concentrated on insufficiently studied out monuments and he created base for
their further researches. With a great number of collected and elaborated sources,
and with reliability of enclosed plans, precision of describes and controlled facts,
Bo{kovi} served as a methodological example and authority. On his results and in-
terpretation, today every research is basing on building heritage of Nemanja’s pe-
riod and Ra{ka’s school to which he devoted specially attention.
