THE IDIOMATIC SETS: CONCEPTS AND(OR) CONVENTIONS-
AT THE EXAMPLE OF “THE SANJAK PHRASEOLOGY
DICTIONARY OF ABDULAH MUSOVIC”
Abstract: Language units of any level can be named conventions since they
are the result of a silent agreement of one language community, although a reliable
proof on how a certain community agreed on a house to be a house, still does not
exist. A modern lexicon spreading can offer to us one of the insights on how language
conventions appear, but still for it, we can say that a condition on its availability
must be fulfilled. Indeed, the modern world aspires to its intercontinental connection,
both at the economy plan and a language one. The needs of modern language users
are related to the principle of globalization and thus, the modern lexicon spreading
is simply one of the ways. Taking the convention results as significant ones, in this
context, the paper discusses the idiomatic sets as conventions, and asks an issue
whether they should be understood as a way to a nature of a national being.
Key words: idiomatic sets, metaphor, metonymy, convention, concept,
translation, culture, society, Sanjak dialects.
