THE FLOWS AND CONSEQUENCES OF THE BALKAN
DEOSMANISATION IN XIX CENTURY: THE MUHAJIRS OF
KOLASIN AND NIKSIC IN SANJAK
Abstract: Balkan was exposed to strong processes of deosmanisation in XIX
century. The great Eastern Crises (18751878) resulted in huge geopolitical and
demographic changes, oppressions and emigrations of the Muslims from newly
formed countries. Among numerous muhajirs in Sanjak, there were the ones from
Kolasin and Niksic area, arrived after longterm dramatic events in these areas that
by the decision of the Berlin Congress entered into the consistent part of Montenegro
in 1878.
