INFLUENCE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE
ONTO THE CULTURE OF NOVI PAZAR

Abstract: Novi Pazar is a town in the south of Serbia, in the region known
for its name of Sanjak. In its rich historical and cultural heritage, the influences
of several cultures are visible in this town. Each of them has left its trace, both in
customs and in written monuments of this region. English language as a “lingua
franca” has also gained its influence in this town. In the very paper, tourist
signalisation shall be discussed that was placed in this town of a recent date, more
precisely in 2012. Several segments shall be reconsidered in the very paper on the
use of the English language in informative purposes and how much this language
shall contribute to the life of Novi Pazar to be changed.
