REVITALISATION OF THE INN STRUCTURE OF “GRANATA” IN
NOVI PAZAR BY THE RECONSTRUCTION PROCESS

Summary: The old downtown of Novi Pazar is a part of the historical zone of
the old downtown of this city, on the right bank of the Raska River and it gives to
this part of the city architectural, ambient and urban values. It includes structures
that belong to the group of the cultural heritage protected structures. The Inn Han,
of very specific folklore architecture, was completely unusable, degraded in the last
several years and then it burnt down in the fire at the end of summer in 2013. The
subject of this paper is examination of possibilities of a complete reconstruction and
reinterpretation of the old structure of the Inn Granata, based on the saved project
documents, by respecting a traditional urban matrix. A special segment of the paper
is an idea solution of the reconstruction of the old building of the Inn, and it should
be appropriate to all preservation conditions, protection and usage of the cultural
heritage.
