THE AREA OF TUCANJE LOCAL COMMUNITY
-History-

Abstract: The area covered by the present day local community Tucanje
belongs to the municipality of Petnjica. It consists of three villages and the local
community centre is in the village of Tucanje. To speak on ancient settlements, it is
witnessed by the remains in the field: building style, old graveyards, old roads, etc.
Since during the time of the Turkish reign, this area belonged to the area of Bihor
, the names of certain settlements are mentioned within the Turkish land property
regulations, they were done thoroughly and for each regulated place, it can be seen
its religious structure, social and ethnical structures. From this data, studying of the
history of these areas begins. Since frequent migrations and moving of people, the
ethnical structure was changed and, now in this area, the majority of population is
of Islamic religion, with a smaller number of people of Orthodox religion.
