THE PROPERTY SYSTEM IN THE AREA OF ISA BEG ISAKO-
VIC (PURSUANT TO REGULATION FROM 1455)

Abstract: The collective property record of inns of Isa Beg Isakovic and
providers of his ruling men, rulers and scholars in the territories of Jelec, Zvecan,
Niksic, Hodidjed, Sjenica, Ras, Skoplje, and Tetovo was finished on 9–18th May,
1455. By conquering certain areas in Macedonia and Serbia, the Turks turned them
into their land property and gave them to keep in trust to ruling men with authority.
In these lands, military and civil authorities were concentrated. The best example
of such organisation of the land property was of Isa Beg Isakovic, either to be a
double or triple land type. This land record was divided into 12 units. The first
unit makes the lands of Isa Beg Isakovic, and it consisted of settlement’s income
of the above mentioned areas, and they were, without the income from Skoplje-
763.000 akces (Turkish currency at the time). The paper presents all units of this
land property record from 1455.
