THE SIGNIFICANCE AND ROLE OF ART COLONY
“SANJAK-ARTISTS’ INSPIRATION”
IN THE CULTURE LIFE OF NOVI PAZAR

Abstract: Art colonies are artists’ gatherings that allow the exchange of
ideas, flow of information, artistic production and presentation of art creation,
both within experienced artists, and young creators who have just finished their
academies. They enrich culture life of cities and places where they have been held
in, stimulate inter­cultural communication and are always a positive professional
and personal experience for artists, and a chance for the local population to be
introduced with contemporary art flows and a presentation of its culture through the
role of a host of the manifestation. The art colony “Sanjak­ Artists’ Inspiration” has
a very significant role in creating of culture life of this area, and artworks created
during twenty years of its existence, are an intersection of the contemporary art
scene of a part of the Balkan.
