Crosses from the Collection of the “Ras” Museum

Abstract: Within the Collections of the “Ras” Museum in Novi Pazar, crosses
are kept from the period from the 10th until 19th century. The paper represents a
catalogue of crosses being kept at the Archaeological Middle Age Collection and
the Collection of Applied Art. A number of the samples originate from the territory
of Serbia.
The Collection of 15 crosses makes a heterogeneous group of items, being
in their largest number within the fund of the “Ras” Museum, delivered over
Archaeological excavations, over presents or purchase, although there are samples
with a lack of data on their finding place or their origin.
The Collection of sacral items make relics, seals, French Croix, crosses-key
rings, and they were worn either separately or as a consistent part of a line of pearls.
