KARLIČIĆI ON DISTRICT OF SJENICA
On the district of Sjenica, are like vise in the whole Old Raška, always
were intensive and sometimes numerous, movements of cattle breeding populati-
on. Some removed and the other settled. Starina s population mostly disappeared
in the Viennese war 1683–1699. New population became from the Lim’s valley,
Brdo, Herzegovina and Albanian Malesia. Causes of that migration and emigrati-
on processes were wars, fruitless years, epidemics, agrarian overpopulation, pos-
session and legal insecurity etc.
The biggest number of present Serbian population was settled in the first
half of the 19 century. Among those Serbian orthodox families was the Karličić
th
family that settled in town Sjenica and villages Štavalj and Brnjica. Originated
from Moraca and they celebrate St. Lukas. Their forerunner was Karlo Bulatovic
the priest. This family gave line of the respectable people as princes Pavle and
Pejo Karličić, trader Mitar Karličić, prof. PhD Vukojica Karličić, Phd Milojica
Karličić, prof. Božidar Karličić, solicitor Miljan Karličić and many others.
